History
Mrs Eva Corander 1900-1980
Kennel Geijes was registered at the Finnish Kennel Club in 1943 by our grandmother Mrs Eva “Matte” Corander (1900–1980). At the beginning, she bred Airedale terriers and Dachshunds. In the late 1950’s Matte got her first female Kerry, INT Ch Inkbottle August Stardust. She became the foundation dog for the Kerry bloodlines of Kennel Geijes. Dusty, as she was called, was also the grand dam for INT Ch Geijes Dark Azure Valentino, who was almost unbeatable in the breed for nearly ten years in the 1970's, and also the very first Kerry Blue in Finland to win several Best In Shows.
In 1963, Mrs Eva Corander imported the first Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers from Ireland to Scandinavia, a female INT Ch Holmenocks Hepburn and a male Int Ch Crecora Crepello from the famous breeder Mrs Maureen Holmes, Kennel Holmenocks. Pretty soon the very first Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier litter was born in Finland.
After Eva Corander passed away in 1980, her daughter Mrs Anita Lundsten and her granddaughters Mia and Aya Lundsten continued to breed Geijes Kerry Blue Terriers, Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and one litter of Dachshunds.
